Junk strangeness

Postby twagner » Mon Nov 29, 2004 4:11 am

Most of the time, my junk mail is filtered almost perfectly (96% accuracy). But every day, a few messages slip through that seem identical to other spam that has been correctly classified. All those messages have no scoring details in the header, only an empty "X-Poco-Scored:" line. Any ideas?

How many accounts are you checking? If it is more than one then the following may apply. If you are only checking a single account then this is not the problem.

I have seen similar things once or twice (not related to Junk mail filtering but similar enough to make me believe they may be related). How many threads are you running on the check mail action (see Options | Network settings : Maximum number of threads to spawn on check mail.

I have this set to 1 as I have had instances where incoming scripts did not get executed. Dropping this value to 1 seems to have solved this issue. This may not be the same issue you are experiencing but it sounds similar enough for me to provide this as a suggestion.

I tried your suggestion for a few days (had it on 3, set it to 1), it's hard to say whether it helped. Still getting junk to my in-box that I think should have been detected as such.

What I'm wondering... I realized that all mail that ends up in my in-box has no Bayes scoring information, just the empty "Scored:" line. Did I misconfigure something? I have standard filters off, medium sensitivity, automatic filtering and learning enabled. I remember seeing scoring info in my in-box in earlier releases, and it helped me in tweaking my filters. Has that changed, or did I screw up a setting?
