Which "declassify" choice do I use?

There are words and then there are other words.

My problem right now has to do with "declassify."

I'm trying one more time to get Pocomail's junk filters to work for me instead of relying on K9. Here's my problem -- what do these two choices mean in the right-click menu for Junk mail filtering:

Declassify As Junk
Declassify As Good

Here's my question: If Pocomail has filtered email into my Junk folder which really should be Good -- do I go to the Junk folder, highlight the email, then select Declassify As Junk -- or Declassify As Good??

I feel almost stupid asking the question, because it should be obvious. Maybe it's just been a long week at work and my brain's too "foggy" to get it?

That really is confusing.

In the meantime, I believe just moving the junk from junkbox to inbox will do.

I usually do four steps (may be overkill). While the email is in the junk mail folder, first I declassify as junk. Then, I classify as good. I then drag the message to the inbox folder. Now I classify as good again.

Like I said, may be overkill but it seems to work.

Thanks for the responses.

In reality, I find the newest beta version's junk filter no better than past efforts: the Bayesian filter is sssssllllllooooowww to learn, and there's great mystery in getting the other settings right.

After watching PocoMail's exceedingly awkward to downright dumb Junk mail filters dump tons of email that was good into my junk mail box, while sending tons of email that was junk right to my inbox -- I'm going back to K9.

I'm only beating a dead horse, metaphorically, I know. But it really puzzles me why K9 (which BTW hasn't been updated in a year and a half) and Thunderbird both can handle junk mail quickly and elegantly without jumping through a ton of hoops to set up -- yet Pocomail simply doesn't get it.

I really love Pocomail's many features. I'll probably even pay to upgrade to version 4 once it's out of beta.

But, as for junk mail filtering - UGH!

I agree! I am also working with the betas, 3250, at present. It just doesn't seem to get it. For false positives, I allow sender, classify as good and move to my inbox, and still posts (many of the false positives are postings to Yahoo groups), keep going to my junk mail box. I have also added the groups' addresses to my contacts in hope of fixing this. Even newsletters that I have added to my contacts are misfiled. I am finding it a pain to go through the 3 steps above on dozens of e-mails a day. Is there a better way? I have also posted something similar in the beta forum.

Well I have it right, more or less. It was way slower than K9 though. Now I have 98.48% accuracy at 1500 mails processed (21 missed, 9 false positives). The mail it misses is mostly 2-5 words in length with all content in big image, or mail with loads of non-related words. The mail that it mis-classifies as junk is the one that could be mistaken - like newsletters and so on. So I'm pretty happy with it :-)

Umm ... care to share how you got it right? :) Or was it just a matter of training, training and more training? :p

Sure :-)

Junk Threshold: 0.98
Good Mail Bias: 5

Junk Score: 20
Good Score: 3

Custom Sensitivity: 14

And I train a lot :)
