Moving PocoMail to Another Compuer

Postby Davidf » Mon Mar 01, 2010 7:26 am

I have been playing with PocoMail for the past couple of days and am very impressed.

I would like to install it on my wife's computer but transfer over the settings. Is there a way to do this (both use Windows 7).

Thank you,

David

Just copy it over to the same locations.
That's all. 8)

But wouldn't I have to install the program from your website? Or are you saying I can just copy the folder "Pocomail4" into the programs folder?

Thank you, Eric.

No need to install anything. Just copy it over. :D

That would work if data files are stored in Program Files folder alongside with executable. (I have it that way too.)

If your data folder is different than the executable folder (which is very probably, as it's the default option, and highly recommended for Windows 7), best way is probably File > Backup and Restore, to backup on one installation and restore on another.
There are more details in the Help file, through menu Help > Contents, Importing Information / Transferring Data to Another Computer.
Only choose Program Preferences and Settings in this case, to avoid having all the data files transferred alongside.

Moving to another computer

Thank you very much, Tomas, for taking the time to add that comment. I was able to follow the help menu items you identified and successfully transfer the settings I'd spent so much time selecting.
