Socket Error # 10055 No buffer space available.

Postby richard123 » Sat Sep 25, 2004 12:09 pm

I get this rather often, and I'm not sure whether it's my ISP or pocomail ... but I suspect it's pocomail as I get it for both of my ISP mailbox accounts at the same time.

I have 31GB free on the HDD. I run XP sp2 with 512MB RAM. Restarting pocomail helps sometimes. Compressing mailboxes doesn't help.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

A search in Google provides this explanation:
Socket error (#10055): No buffer space available.

Analyse & Solutions:

An operation on a socket or pipe was not performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full. This error indicates a shortage of resources on your system. It can occur if you're trying to run too many applications (of any kind) simultaneously on your machine. If this tends to occur after running certain applications for a while, it might be a symptom of an application that doesn't return system resources (like memory) properly. It may also indicate you are not closing the applications properly. If it persists, exit Windows or reboot your machine to remedy the problem.
PocoMail is merely reporting to you an error from the Windows IP socket - which would explain why you get it for both ISPs. It isn't PocoMail; suggest that you reboot and try again.
