Program so slow with 2 many emails

I am find a big difficulty in scrolling thru my emails by the mouse scroll wheel or even using the keyboard(i have over 3000 emails). Is there any hiddens option that can speed up this coz the program is so frustrating in the scrolling speed !!! - i have tried compressing all mailboxes but that didn't help at all. Thanks

PS my PC is really strong enough (AMD Athlon 2600+ with 512 MB DDR 333)

Are all these messages in a single mailbox? Would it make sense to move them into multiple mailboxes?

You can also use the "Show only" bar to filter the messages thereby reducing the number of messages presented in the message index.

My PC has similar config to that of yours and it is very quick, even in a folder with over 6000 emails. Must be some other reason?
How big the emails are, ie. how big the .idx and .mbx files are? Though I think there is a low chance of coincidence with that.

On second edit: I quickly realized you have PE version and I don't. Not sure how much that is relevant to this particular problem, though.
