junk mail filters [Mod: changing users]

Postby mhosie » Tue Sep 20, 2005 6:07 am

Why does my junk mail filter keep resting to 0 good words and 0 band words? I add loads of both then when i change users it has gone back to 0. Seems a bit pointless if this keeps happening. Anyone no why and how to stop this happening?

Did you enable the Junk Mail Filter?
Tools > Junk Mail Filtering and check the box 'Enable automatic Junk Mail filtering'

If you changed users I think it needs to learn from the start, because your spam isn't another users spam. :?

I hope this helps.

thanks eric
actually in my default user it is fine and the the good and bad words are accumulating nicely. However, in my second user everytime i log out and then back in it resets to 0 good and 0 bad words. Is this a bug? Or is my installation corrupted?

I don't think your installation is corrupted. :)

If you log in to your second user it uses its own mail directory with good words and bad words
(DBSpam.ini & DBGood.ini & the TXT-files which can be found inside your default Mail directory).
Since it never learned anything it shows 0.

 What you could do is copying those files from your default to your second user Mail directory.
Close Poco first before copying those files.

I hope this helps.

well actually it did learn new words because i taught it - however when i log out, back to my default login, then log back in it has inconveniently forgotten all the words I taught it. I will check to see if they are getting to the files you mentioned otherwise I don't really see why they keep disappearing.

fixed now!

Ok it is fixed now. For some reason the DBSpam.ini & DBGood.ini files were not present in the user mail directory. So I copied them there and now all is working fine.

Thanks for your help Eric

now not working!

Postby mhosie » Tue Oct 25, 2005 9:55 pm

Actually I just discovered that it still isn't working properly! I copied the dbgood and dbbad files into the mail folders of each user account, from the default mail folder. The figure of good and bad word is now the same but still when i add to the user acounts and then close the program they reset back to the original number that was copied across from the default mail folder.

The default filter works fine and the number of words increases fine.

Can someone using barca pro confrim to me that their user accounts junk mail filters are working ok, then at least i know that this is a problem at my end and not with the program.

Thanks
