Norton Internet Security 2005 & PE

Postby Randall » Wed Sep 21, 2005 3:26 am

Well, PE was working fine until I installed Norton Internet Security 2005 on my Win 2000 Pro machine with DSL.

I am using GMail pop3. I can receive, but I cannot send. :? I can use the same PE at work and I can do both so I know it's my home machine. I am not using Gmail smtp. I use a smtp.ucdavis.edu (my work smtp). However if I could use the Gmail smtp, that would be great.

I am guessing I need to open a port or... I am new to firewalls, etc., :!: so I need some help.

Thanks

I think you need to get in touch with Symantec Support. :?
Have a look at the Product Support.

The new upcoming major upgrade of Poco/Barca can send through Gmail. :P

It's been a long time since I used NIS, so I don't know how you can open a port.
Didn't NIS ask to make a connection when sending mail?

Sorry, can't help much more here. :?

Solved

Turns out it was an issue with SBC DSL, not Norton (both installed on the same day). I was using the gmail smtp when I needed to use the SBC smtp address. Of course, SBC Help was hopeless and I only found out when talking with a fellow worker who had had the same problem.

Working great again...lovin' pocomail again.

Thanks.
