PM + Spamhilator - connection hangs, can't d/l any e-mail

Postby loobyloo » Mon Apr 17, 2006 12:14 am

Hello everybody

I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems in using PM with Spamhilator. When I check for e-mail, the connection just hangs indefinitely, without downloading anything. Is this a known conflict?

TIA

Hi Cliff & welcome to Poco Forums, :D

Last time I tried it I didn't experience any problems although it slowed down receiving mail.

:!: Don't know if there's a conflict, but it could also be possible due to incorrect settings.
It could be that something else is listening on 110 and as such it interferes. Normally that would be an antivirus.
You could try to change the port in Spamihilator and your account.
For example: use port 1110.

Have a look at Spamihilator, avast, Pocomail?

Hope that helps solving your problem.

Thanks for that: I've tried varous combinations of ports but can't seem to get it to work. I either get "Connection closed gracefully" (nice word :) ) or Connection refused. It does like some sort of competition for ports though. If I have some time later I'll see if I can sort it out. I'll ask on the Spamhilator forum as well. Thanks for the pointers.

Yes, setting up a proxy chain can be quite an adventure, not to mention the headaches I got from it. :?

Let us know how it goes, so it may help others as well. :)

BTW I'm moving this topic to Email Hall.
