PocoMail and Windows 7 [Mod: Resolved]

Postby ianw » Thu May 07, 2009 7:20 pm

I got the W7 RC yesterday so I installed Pocomail 4400 to see if it works, I'm very glad to say that it does work, I dont have a problem with it.

Update,
I have Pocomail now installed and working in both W7 RC x32 and x64.

I use a trayless caddy and I can swap drives in 8 seconds.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit RTM and have awful problems with pocomail. While it initially seems to check mail and show it OK, I can come back a while later and when I click on one email in my inbox it will show a different email and instead of showing the contents of the email will show garbage like:
Code: Select all
text1_AdditionalProduct{
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 12px;
        color: #666666;
        line-height: 10px;
        margin-left: 0px;
        margin-right: 20px;
        text-align: left;
        font-weight:bold;
}
.text2{
        font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
        font-size: 16px;
        color: #CC0000;
        line-height: 20px;
        margin-left: 20px;
        margin-right: 20px;
        text-align: left;
        font-weight: bold;

anyone have a fix?

What antivirus are you using :?:
If it puts a text inside the message like for examples Avast, AVG or NOD32, disable it and see if that helps.
Spam blockers too can cause all sorts of problems. :?

Or perhaps it's your ISP's spam blocker who's adding something incorrectly to your messages.

Not quite easy to find what's responsible for it, so it needs further info and investigation on your end.

Let me know if that helps. ;)

Fixed via helpdesk. Corruption was probably caused by upgrading over my XP version (thought that would save all my settings), which caused all the folders to be in the wrong locations for Win 7. Fixed by compressing folders and then doing a clean install and importing settings.

Yes, in XP storing data under Program Files folder was not recommended, but harmless.
(I know well, being old school, I hated all the software that forced my data to Documents and Settings folder, and preferred to have everything in one place with the program in Program Files.)
Since Vista, it's not harmless anymore, it can occasionally cause index files corruption due to the security hardening in Vista (and Windows 7) where programs shouldn't write to Program Files directory.
So that was it, for the record.
