I see that in 2006 there was discussion about PocoMail's limitations in this area. This is a very serious shortcoming, from my standpoint. Have any fixes been implemented or practical work-arounds been discovered?

Thank you.

This big problem shall be put to an end by an implementation of new editor control. While that's a work in progress, big question remains and that is when this will be finished. I hope it will be during this year, but I have no official information to back this up (I mean the time estimate, the information about editor control implementation is official) thus it's just my own guess (and hope). Here are the workarounds, but they are not 100%, from the helpdesk boilerplate text:

---
Unfortunately there is a known problem where certain types of inline images will not be included in forwards or replies. That's due to limitations of editor and viewer modules we have licensed from third party that are used in Pocomail. It will only be fully solved after the ongoing implementation of new better editor control is finished.

As a workaround it's possible to use menu Message > Forward As Attachment, to forward such message in its original form.

However in some cases the situation might be improved just by changing certain settings through menu Tools > Options, in Message Format page "Always use this message format" shall be set to "Just Styled", and in Quoting Text page the option "Use quote-character for forwards as well" shall be unticked.

We have also developed the script that can serve as a workable workaround for some such cases - please find it enclosed (ForwardAsAttachment.poc file). This script is mostly good for cases where formatting of forwarded html/styled message is not maintained, and/or where the message contains online images (located on the server). It's not fully suitable for messages containing attachments, as attachments (for example images attached) to such messages cannot be included with the message forwarded using this script.

If you are viewing this message in Pocomail or Barca, you will be offered a one-click installation of that script at the top of the message preview window. After installation, close the program and start it again.

If one-click installation is not available for some reason: please save the script to the Scripts directory of your installation. If you are not sure where Scripts directory is, please run from menu Help > Email support, report will be generated, find a line starting with AppPath= , it indicates the location of the Scripts directory. After that, close the program and start again.

If you will not be using the script frequently, you can access it through menu Tools > Any Script Run On Selected > ForwardAsAttachment. For frequent access, you can use menu Tools > Scripts, Buttons tab, and assing the script to one of the 10 buttons available and click Close button. Button can be then placed on the main toolbar using menu Tools > Customize, and moving User Action X (where X corresponds to the button number set in previous step) from the left list (Available buttons) to the right list (Current buttons).

That will also make the script accessible through a shorter menu Tools > Script run on Selected > Forward as Attachment, and through a keyboard shortcut which can be found through same menu.

Using the script will save the original message with full formatting intact (however except any attachments) as html file, and open a new message window with that html file attached. The script is mostly to be used on messages where images are not enclosed but placed online.

I'm sorry for that limitation. It was partially fixed in the last update, however anything beyond that requires replacing the old editor with a new one which is a work in progress already.
