Pocomail stalling when importing OE in Windows 7

Postby wsipple » Sun May 30, 2010 5:32 am

Installed the evaluation version of Pocomail on my new computer.

Windows 7 64 bit

I open Pocomail up, then go to import; start the import wizard to pull in my OE files, I either get Import Wizard (NOT RESPONDING) or it will start the import but then I'll get a Windows message saying something like the program has stopped working.

I really want to be able to use this mail program since it has a similar interface to OE (which unfortunately is not supported or workable on Windows 7).

If anyone has any ideas, I'd very much appreciate them.

I haven't heard of this issue yet, but it can't be excluded that something might be blocking Pocomail's import wizard from accessing OE data (eg. tougher than usual security rules on your computer).
One thing I'd try is to set Pocomail's compatibility backwards eg. to Windows XP, that can be done by right-clicking on poco.exe file or shortcut, choosing Properties from the popup menu, Compatibility tab.

As an alternative way to migrate your OE data to mbox folder format which Pocomail supports you can use DBXConv utility from
http://www.ukrebs-software.de/

Folders converted with DBXConv can be copied directly under Pocomail's Mail folder, or imported one by one through menu File > Import > Messages, Unix mailbox is the type of the folder.
