Clicking on link to url in email causes Poco to crash

Postby Light23 » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:47 pm

When I click on a link to a site under an image in an email, it causes Poco to stop working. I have just transferred to a new machine using windows7 64bit. It also crashes the browses (Chrome).

Thank you for your help.

Can you tell me how you transferred Poco to your new machine :?:
:!: Be careful that those transferred files aren't marked Read-Only.
Also make sure not to install Poco into Program Files, since it's protected against changes.

I'm also on Win 7 - 64bit, but Barca Pro doesn't cause problems with any browser. :)

I installed Pocomail 4.8.0.440 from a fresh installation file. I didn't transfer any files from a previous installation except the address book through "recovery" . I installed Poco into Program Files(x86) in Windows 7 64bit. The message files etc. are in My Documents.

Thank you

Maybe something got corrupt.
Are you sure Chrome is set as your default browser?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, Chrome is my default browser.

Also, besides any link in a message causing a crash of Poco, even the Pocomail web link in the help menu when clicked causes a crash as well as using view from browser option in the message menu.

You're welcome.

I'm not sure what's going on, but maybe you could this. It doesn't hurt to try it.

1. Close Poco first.
2. Navigate to your directory which contains the ini-files
3. Rename poco.ini to poco_old.ini
4. Restart Poco again.

:!: All will be reset to default, so you'll have to set it up again.
Note your settings down or take screenshots prior to resetting your Poco.

Let me know if it solves you're problem or not.

Till later.

Eric,

Changing the .ini file for a default .ini file makes no difference.

That's a pity. :(
I would uninstall Poco completely and use registry cleaner to clean up leftovers.
Make sure to let the registry cleaner take a backup.

Once done restart your PC.
Re-install Poco into another directory and try it again.

There's something definately wrong here.
The problem is finding the it. :|

Eric,

:D :D Putting everything in a different directory than before seems to have worked. I put everything in the root directory ( C:\PocoMail4-Program and C:\PocoMail4-Data). Do you think it is a good location?

I appreciate you giving your time to this thorn!

I'm glad it worked this time. :D
Strange why it does work without problems on my system.
Could be your security settings are to strict :?:

That's fine, however I won't put my data on C:
For example: My data is situated on my D: partition under D:\Data\Barca Pro.
In case my C: gets messed up, I only have to restore this partition from my image.
Make sure to backup/image your data to an external drive, if possible.
Just to prevent loss of data.
I appreciate you giving your time to this thorn!
You're most welcome David.
Merry Xmas to you & your family.
Wishing you a Happy New Year too.

Take care.
