Inbox/Ouutbox/etc. folders for each e-mail account-possible?

Postby j7qw » Tue Aug 03, 2004 3:19 pm

Hi,
I am new to pocomail, so forgive me if I ask a silly question:
In a given pocomail user account, can each e-mail account have its own inbox/outbox/sent/etc., all automatically displayed in the tree-structure on the left column (the way The Bat! does)?
Thanks

You can set custom "In" and "Sent" mailboxes on a per account basis (done from the "Mailboxes" tab of the account setup form for the account).

All accounts share common "Out", "Junk Mail" and "Trash" mailboxes.

Adding to Michael's post, if for some reason you need to have separate out, junk or trash mailboxes for each account, you can get part way there by using the OnAdd event.

The drawback to the following idea is that Empty Trash, Empty Junk and Send Queued Messages commands probably won't work the way you might expect. The reason? The new extra boxes are just regular Poco mailboxes with names that make them seem like something they are not. Chameleons!

Setting up these extra boxes would entail defining one event for each combination of account and extra mailbox. For example, if you had two accounts and wanted an extra "trash" for each one, you would need 2 event definitions -- one for a mailbox named Trash-Account1 and another for mailbox named Trash-Account2.

A particular event would be defined to run on a particular "real" Poco mailbox (e.g., Out, Trash or Junk) and limited to fire only for the specified account. The "action" defined in the filter would be to move the message to the "extra" mailbox, e.g., Trash-Account2.

Assuming this idea appeals to you, and if this is enough to get you going, then happy "eventing." If you need more specific setup info, please just ask.
